Save or Spend is a game that aims to use entertainment derived from playing a fast paced board game whilst teaching consumer financial education through describing financial concepts

NATURE OF THE GAME

OBJECTIVE

Be the first team to reach the finish square or save enough money to advance your team to the finish square. Teams advance by correctly identifying the concepts that their team mates are describing. Teams must try and correctly identify as many concepts as possible in 30 seconds the most being four. If a team identifies all four concepts the team will be awarded money note. Each note can be saved for advancement without playing a card or colour change on the board.

THE ROLE OF THE BOARD

The board squares are direct representative of the playing cards. Each team starts off at the yellow starts and therefore with the yellow card. Depending on how many correct descriptors each team gets will land them on a new coloured square. Upon a team’s next turn to play the team will pick up a playing card from the coloured squared their team is on.

THE ROLE OF MONEY

A team may earn money by correctly identifying all four concepts on a card A team may choose to save or spend their money. Money can be used to purchase a playing turn colour change or an advancement on the board without playing a round. If a team chooses to save their money they may do so and use them at crucial times in the playing game.

DESCRIBING & IDENTIFYING

Team players are called describers and identifiers. Each team players must take a turn at being the described and the identifier.

PENALTIES

When a team violates any of the rules their turn ends immediately and their playing token must be moved one square back or pay with money.

HOW STRICT

Playing teams to decide before game whether use of articles is required. Teams must decide if the describers must acknowledge the identifiers correct identification.
